| Why
we are against the fights of dogs.
The statute
of the Argentine Dogo Club contained in its article 9 a disposition
that final prohibited the fights of dogs.
The absence
of this disposition in the body of the effective regulation, does not
have never to be interpreted like a possibility of consent to the custom
for the so mentioned "functional gymnastics".
Nothing
else foolish that the pretension to justify low instincts hiding them
in pretended tecnicism.
This arises
because some breed "masters", do an erroneous interpretation
of the necessity of "functional gymnastics" for the maintenance
of the qualities that must be close to the Dogo.
It is lamentable
that some breeders make participate their animals in wild fights and
integrate clubs of canine gladiators, that not only reduce the human
condition, but that it is also completely opposite to the gymnastics
that the Dogo must make.
It is doubtless
that when forming a new breed, derived from already existing breeds,
and of which characters are considered necessary, by selection are also
extracted some others that are ineffective for the function by which
the breed was created. In the successive crossovers the bad caracteristics
must be eliminated.
There are
some judges that punish with severity the appearance of some spot, that
sometimes only has the size of a freckle, to consider it as an atavic
regression, but we see them defending the fight of Dogos as a favorable
"functional gymnastics", without realizing that it is a bad
thing for the dogo to fight with its equal ones, because completely
destroys his quality of the pack dog, that is the complementation.
In conclusion,
the fightings are "antifunctional gymnastics" that will attempt
not only against the dog that practices it but against its descendants,
that will receive the desirable contribution of those characters and
habits that were cultivated for their greater functionality and the
undesirable tendency to transmit itself in several generations would
turn it in an inept one for their work of hunting in group.
